And this is where, once again I throw out that if anyone is struggling for a prolonged period, hit me up and Im happy to hook you up with a brood bitch or showable puppy to help out. Sometimes the fresh blood brings new optimism! |

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I picked up a few Kees from the kennel that is leaving. In the past I've always just focused on Silky Terriers but I decided to branch out a bit. |

Thank you everyone for the welcome. I entered 3 girls tonight so I could get a better idea of which one I want to show. I'll be breeding the others when they are ready. |

Thanks Xi-Chi, Celtic Mystery never saw a show ring but whelped some quite nice puppies for me. Another disappointing group of litters. Am waiting on my very pretty although very low shine boy to get to 30 days - he turns 29 today. www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14357891 He has a lovely even balance of traits, and I am hoping and praying that he will give me a breakthrough. I have to admit using him is a big gamble, but I need to try something to get past 96.35 -- so fingers (and toes) crossed. I took a huge gamble and got Stolen Dance's dam from Analeyn to breed to him, she is not very high SOP - but almost all of the high bitches were gone by the time I had the chance to go shopping, and am holding a few of my own bitches ready to breed to him. Although if my luck runs as it has been - he will probably be a disaster. I am only going to breed full SS bitches to him to try and keep the low SS factor down a bit. The thing is -- is he worth trying, or am I making a really bad mistake??? |

Well, when I was source breeding a few years back I seem to remember that show shine was easier to control than the rest of the traits. It is a trait though so it works like the others and it needs to be set. If you breed him, you may end up with a rash of show shine issues for a few generations, but you will have improved the individual traits. It is kind of a trade off...on one side improved traits...on the other low show shine for a bit. However, otherwise that boy is really nice. He scores a 5.5 on my little yard stick I use to measure my dogs against. The current top Keeshond scores a 4.5 by my yard stick. Personally, I'd breed him to perfect show shine females (like you said). Just my opinion -Serenity |

I'd keep him around Aussie. Some of the low show shine dogs produce the best. I think that boy will produce something really really nice. Just don't breed him to any girls that have low show shine. |

I haven't been overly active, but trying to catch back up. I did put this 9.5FQ boy up for stud if anyone is interested. www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14338919 Not the best overall SOP at 96.2 but he did produce okay when bred to two of my girls. |
