Offer to Buy a Dog

Checking out the "Dogs for Sale" list is the best way to find dogs to buy. Select your chosen breed and a list of dogs currently for sale will be shown.

At the top of the page, under Dogs for sale, it is possible to refine the list to only show dogs of the age or sex that you are looking for. Clicking on "Puppies" for instance will only show puppies up to 14 days old. If you are after an older dog, click on the age you require.

Dogs can be listed for sale in two ways; Auto sale or Approved sale. Dogs listed on Auto sale have a "Yes" next to their name.

Offering to buy a dog listed on Auto sale will result in that dog instantly being sent to your kennel and you will be charged the sale amount.

If you offer to buy a dog listed on Approval, the owner of the dog has three days to approve or decline your offer. If they accept, you will be charged the sale amount and the dog will be sent to your kennel.

All offers to buy dogs are binding and cannot be withdrawn once made. If the owner of the dog does not accept or decline your offer in three days, the offer will expire. If you make an offer on a dog you cannot afford, the offer will be automatically deleted.

It is best not to offer on too many dogs on approval unless you really want them all. If all the owners approve the offers you may end up with multiple dogs when you may have only wanted one. This is particularly true for basic kennels where there is a five dog limit.

It is typically rude to send extremely low offers to owners of high quality dogs especially if they are not listed for sale. For example, sending an offer of $100 for a dog that has won Best in Show is inappropriate and should be avoided. If you try to low ball the owners of dogs, don't be surprised if you get a rude response.

Due to the overwhelming amount of e-mail owners of champion dogs would receive, they may, at their discretion, turn off the ability of other users to send them offers on individual dogs. In order to turn off the ability of other users to send you offers on your dogs, click "Turn Offers Off." You may also turn on the ability for other users to send you offers by clicking "Turn Offers On" once you have already turned it off.

Another way to find dogs for sale is to visit the "Dogs for Sale" forum listed under Community - Dog Forum. You can also post in the "Dogs Wanted" forum with details of the breed and sex you are looking for.

The figure 8 exercise requires the team to heel in a figure 8 pattern either on or off leash. Generally two of the ring stewards will assist the judge with this exercise by acting as "posts", standing 8 feet apart, that the team walks around to form the loops of the figure 8.
