Aswell as my bitches, I have some holdback males that I am referring to as my "Insurance policy" lol

I FH them each generation when I get better males, its just to make sure there are studs if all the hidden ones die

Yellow

40.10
46.70
36.50

Yellow and White
45.35
39.50

Brown
36.40

Brown and White
52.10

Quite annoyingly the males have been better than the girls, even had one all male litter!

Heya!

Hows everyone going with their PPs? happy :)

I've decided to move all of my Yellows and Yellow/Whits over to my spare kennel (No Added Sugar) so I have more space to focus on the Brown varieties. It will take me a while to move them across, lol - but they will still be up for stud when they're old enough happy :)

Not much to report, the first half of my third generation will be ready for breeding in 4 days, the second half nine days later. So excited to see how much they improve happy :)

I will be glad when they are of a quality to show and stuff, at the moment it is just a lot of waiting about

Hello everyone. My name is Beth. I created this kennel on my family account to help you guys out. This looks like a fun breed. You guys all seem like a great group of people based on what I skimmed in the thread. I must say that the Picardy picture did help to sway my vote as well happy :)

I created my starter dogs, but managed to only get Yellow and Brown dogs. I got 1 brown and white female. I think I'm partial to the dogs with white.

So far I have very low SOPs because...source dogs lol I'll try to catch up though.

Ok so I have a few questions here. Are you guys just keeping the females and repeatedly breeding them to current SOP males? Are you training them for shows or obedience? When you guys started, how many source females did you begin with?

I have my first 3 litters due on July 5th. I can't wait to see what I get. I've also been contemplating a source project from scratch, but I haven't decided if I really want to take that on yet.

I think someone has taken on a source project from scratch but majority of us have bred source dog to hidden stud, then their offspring to another hidden stud and so on. It brings the SOP up at a decent rate. Source projects can take ten years iirc. Worth it if you are patient (I'm sadly not lol)

I think most people are keeping a mix, I personally am only keeping back the really best dogs incase all the hidden studs were to die of old age, I replace them each time I get a new generation.

I started off with 20 starter bitches and breed them in 2 batches, 5 days apart. I keep the 20 best bitches (10 from each batch) to breed from and FH the previous generation and any pups that aren't selected to be in my top ten.

I have sent you a PM, you can have some of my gen 4's if there are any worth having after I pick out my breeding bitches, if you want to be on the same page with the rest of us happy :)

I have some more questions. Are you guys feeding your brood females rations to improve their condition? Have you guys line bred dogs? Like breeding a third gen back to her grandfather type of deal in order to cement traits? I guess since I have some time until my first litters drop I've been wondering about a strategy. lol

You only really need good condition if you are showing the pups, The dogs we have at the moment are no where near show ready really, so its not really important at the moment. Plus oldboy cuts costs for a project like this happy :)

I am pretty sure that any dog with source in its pedigree will still throw out traits that don't really breed true. So I personally haven't got that far yet, at the moment I am breeding dogs to old studs that give a COI of 0%. It might be something I look at once the traits start breeding true, once I have got rid of the red happy :) It also depends how long the hidden studs are going to be around

I bred my first 6 litters and they should be arriving on July 5th and 6th. I'm SO excited!

I was looking at the ages of some of these show quality studs out there and it seems like eventually we're going to be on our own over here lol I'm sure by that time we're going to have a pretty good start.

Just put a brown boy on stud - Legacy League Core Theory (53.80):

As for the first few Gen4-Litters, nothing remarkable so far. Core Theory is still my highest SOP.

Whisky Hollow- Expecting pups is so exciting! I still really look forward to litters laugh :D

Legacy League- I have had gen 3 dogs with higher SOPs than gen 4's which is frustrating. But I keep thinking "Just another generation away from Source" happy :)

I had my first round of pups born tonight. There were 3 litters and 3 more tomorrow. I kept all of the brown dogs born because I've noticed that this is a more difficult color to come by. I kept a few boys just in case. I also had an entire litter of girls and I kept a couple from that litter.

Brown:
Male: 9.55

Brown & White:
Male: 20.05
Female: 8.05

Yellow:
Male 13.05

Yellow & White:
Female: 19.30
Female: 14.70
Female: 12.35
Female: 8.70

Can't wait to see what the other pups look like tomorrow happy :)

I had another 3 litters born today and I honestly didn't expect him, but I got a 31.95% male.

I decided to keep the highest SOP dog from each litter and then the best opposite sex from each litter. I have a total of 6 males and 6 females right now. I still have 2 more litters that will be arriving on July 11th to complete my first generation of dogs.

Today's additions are:
Brown
M: 31.95
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15021173
F: 31.50
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15021176

Brown & White
M: 20.00
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15021186
M: 16.85
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15021178
F: 7.60
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15021187

Yellow
Male: 15.30
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15021182
F: 9.00
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15021183

Now I'm just waiting to see what happens with my last 2 litters.

Did you know?
The figure 8 exercise requires the team to heel in a figure 8 pattern either on or off leash. Generally two of the ring stewards will assist the judge with this exercise by acting as "posts", standing 8 feet apart, that the team walks around to form the loops of the figure 8.
