Hey everyone,

I'm a new player, and I have a question. How does everyone come up with a name for their dog?

I think everyone has their own system of naming. Sometimes I use song titles or lyrics, sometimes food or drinks :3.

Naming can be hard regardless lol.

I love naming my pups, and I have various ways of doing it. There are a lot of sources on the web.

One of my favourite sources is the site "Fantastic Fiction". I use the search tool, select books, then type in a word, eg Irish, Dance, Magic. And then go through the book titles that come up for that word.

Hundreds of titles in there.......... and a lot of very good names

If I can I try to incorporate the parents' names. I also go to a site called lyrics.com where you can look for any term/word in song titles and/or lyrics. I also go to sites that show names for particular countries, etc. There is really no limit except the length and whether it has been used before. If you use a kennel name, likely the only person who might have used it before is you. LOL Even so, sometimes I have to use dumb names if it's a dog I am not going to show. Sometimes you just get desperate and goofy. There used to be a thread about silly names. Of course my favorite ones are puns.

I have to add that I have a little note pad where I write down names that I hear or that occur to me: Cool Showdog names. Now if I could just find it...
