Ok I do confess I am bad on brushing Sophie’s teeth, I did buy a product on amazon, Petzlife said to be good on keeping teeth clean. It has to be refrigerated, and one I got the pump won’t work.
She gets rotating brands raw patty’s for breakfast and rotating kibble for dinner currently on orjian. She also chews super bully sticks, 8 bully’s braced together 7 inch that one lasts her a week.
She will be 7 years old (where has the time gone), and her teeth are not bad really white in back, her canines are a little brownish tartar wise. Just curious what people find works best?

I have the metal scalers, like what the dentist has. I use them maybe once a year to get any build up. I feed raw though, so all my dogs' teeth get a lot of action with bone.

This Natures Dentist stuff - what's in it? I looked at the website but it doesn't seem to say.

If it works it sounds like a really good idea - I have yet to master the doggy tooth brush thing - I don't get a lot of cooperation from the other end of the brush.

Nature's Dentist is uniquely formulated with a combination of synergistic ingredients that help remove plaque and reduce enzymes that cause bad breath, but that do not destroy digestive flora, stain teeth or have a bitter, unacceptable taste. Harmful organisms that grow from bacterial toxins are reduced, thus establishing a fresher and healthier oral cavity.

Ingredients:
Vegetable fat, Zinc Ascorbate Taurine, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product, Dried lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, Dried lactobacillus Casei fermentation product, Dried lactobacillus Fermentum Fermentation Product, Dried lactobacillus Plantarum fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus niger Fermentation extract, Dried Aspergillus oryzae Fermentation extract, Yeast fermentation solubles, Dried Whey, Yucca Shidigera Extract, Dried Bacillus subtillis fermentation extract, Whey solids, sodium sulfate ,natural zeolites, natural flavoring.

Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (min.) - 1.5%
Crude Fat (min.) - 50.00%
Crude Fiber (max.) - 3.00%
Lactobacillus acidophilus (NCL84) - 1 billion/lb
Enterococcus faecium (NCS97) - 1 billion/lb

Basically probiotic? It’s interesting as her canines have some tartar but rest of her teeth ie in back are white.

Thanks for the info!

How long have you used it? Has the condition of the teeth changed noticeably?

I suspect that the "science" with the probiotics would be the replace "bad" bacteria with "good" - same as the gut treatment.

I think I'll have to get the guys teeth cleaned first to really get a benefit from this - it sounds more preventative than curative.

Gonna have to research some of those ingredients too - I'm mostly taking your word for the "mostly probiotics" at this point.

Thanks again all.

I’m a Vet Tech. While scraping tarter off your dog teeth is just removing the calculus, you could be doing more harm then good. Scaling makes tiny crevices in the tooth making it easier for calcus to build up again. That is why they polish, to “sand”down those crevices. While no product is a miracle cure, the best ones to help are one that are VOHC approved. They have been tested by veterinary dental specialist and deemed to help.
