I'm following a thread about head numbers and have never seen a dog with 9.9 for head.

Just out of interest, if you have ever had one please could you reply with its link?

Weird never thought about that... I just clicked through the top dog list. And didn't find a single dog any breed with a 9.9 in head.

Neat.

But yes, before the last reset, a lot of dogs have 9.9s in head.

We have no 9.9 heads in english cockers, didn't realize it was among what seems to be all breeds. Must be a glitch.

10 heads are commonplace in my two breeds -- Belgian sheepdogs and Boxers. They're more likely in breeds that emphasize head in the standard, as that's what breeders will focus on.

OK, you guys got me interested -- I went WAY back through a random sample of my BS and Boxer pedigrees and sure enough, I didn't run across a single 9.9. Heads in the ones I looked at jumped from 10.2 to 10.0. Odd ...

That is pretty weird and true actually. I recently developed a line of german spitz with 10 heads, however they jumped strait from 9.8 and 10.2 to 10. never got a 9.9 or 10.1.

Has anyone brought this to Jeff's attention? Perhaps there is/was a glitch in the current code or that which did the conversion at the last reset. There have been 9.9s in the distant past.

If not, I just did so anyway. I'm really curious to hear the answer.

Wondering if the 9.9/10/1 thing works with other traits? I've just bred a 10.1 coat when the breed is stuck at 10.2.

I have lots of 9.9 coated Airedales and 9.9 TNB cockers. It's possible other traits might be affected but not those two I think.

It might be possible that other traits are stuck at a different number though - just sayin' (lol).

I don't think heads are "stuck" as such, As there are lots of 9.8 and 10's. Just seems strange that so many in the breed have those numbers...yet never a 9.9.
