I thought that maybe we should have a thread for everyone involved with Sammies. A lot of other breeds have gone this route and it seems to help generate more interest for those breeds. I also thought it might be nice to get to know the fellow Sammie breeders out there. Please feel free to brag about your latest accomplishments here.

I'll go first. I have been playing SD for 8 years now. I've always wanted to breed Samoyeds because my Aunt owned one and he was the most beautiful dog. The only problem was his fur was EVERYWHERE. Other than that one minor flaw, he was a great dog. I got lucky a while back because a few Samoyed breeders decided to stop playing so they were selling off all of their stock. I was trying to keep them as a secondary breed in my primary kennel, but fell in love with them so I opened this kennel. I've transferred many of them over here.

I took some breed averages last month they are as follows:

SOP: 96.66
Head: 9.6
FQ: 9.6
HQ: 9.7
Gait: 9.8
TNB: 9.8
Coat: 10.6
Size: 8.9
Temp: 9.6
Feet: 9.2

I'm working on getting the Biscuit color up to show quality, but I also need to keep a line of show quality dogs in this kennel in order to do that. My personal best traits are as follows:

SOP: 96.80
Head: 10.2/9.8
FQ: 10.1
HQ: 9.8
Gait: 10.0
TNB: 10.0
Coat: 10.4
Size: 9.1
Temp: 9.7/10.3
Feet: 9.4

My best dog: www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15020271

My highest Biscuit: www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14694970

I'll post more averages at the end of this month for anyone who might be interested.

Glad to have another Samoyed breeder join us. I've been playing this game for almost 11 years now. I've had Sammies the whole time with the exception of a couple of Keeshonds a while back. I started source breeding almost as soon as I started playing because I wanted something that was all mine. This was before there were even colors in the game. When they added colors I changed my breeding to only breed for the colors we didn't have. I'm finally getting SOP's in the 93% range. So I still have a ways to go until I catch up to the current dogs. Samoyeds used to be a very active breed with many breeders. Now there are only a couple of active ones left, me and XOXO. We used to have a Samoyed Club but like the breeders it disappeared a long time ago. I also own Samoyeds in real life. I have had them all my life and couldn't see myself without them. I have three of them. Two of them are on the banner on my page.

Hi I have just started up a Samoyed Kennel, my other kennels are in Keeshonds (this is my real life breed), Buhunds and Elkhounds. As you can see, I have a thing for Spitz breeds.

I will be breeding some show dogs, but will be mainly concentrating on the whites and creams.

Welcome happy :) Haven't been in here in a bit. It's nice to see other Sammie breeders join our ranks.

I've never personally taken on source breeding. Glad I'm not trying to do it with Sammies. Those starter dogs are expensive.

This is the first time I have worked on a colour project ... not that I have started from scratch, I am using cream and white dogs and bitches from Iceridge, who has helped me get started, and some old biscuit girls I picked up elsewhere.

I have got a small group of white & biscuit Samoyeds for showing as well as working on getting the other colours up. My biscuits have a little way to go yet, and the creams and whites are further down in SOP.

Welcome to the breed Taymyr. It's good to see more folks taking an interest in Sammies happy :)

My kennel is currently a mess. My schedule got real tight for a bit there and the dogs just kind of took over the place lol I guess Samoyeds have really grabbed my attention because I just chose to devote a second kennel to them. I've been kind of sorting through dogs and trying to transfer some of my stock to the new kennel without getting myself in trouble. I think I pretty much got everything under control now.

I managed to find a boy with a 97.10 adjusted SOP in one of my litters from the other day. That was exciting!

www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15231150

I will put him up for stud when he's old enough if anyone is interested.

Hello everyone. I just put up a few of my boys for stud.

Biscuit
Silivren Funky Cold Medina - 96.40 adjusted
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15067282

He's one of my best boys with 10 Gait and a 9.9 TN&B traits.

Silivren Blizzard - 96.40
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15102705

Silivren Prince of Darkness - 96.30
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15102653

White & Biscuit
Silivren Gold Rush - 96.75 adjusted
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15106922

His SS is low, but he's got 10.1 Gait & 9.8 TN&B.

Ashcroft Cold Front - 96.65
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14873455

Silivren Dust on the Bottle - 96.55 adjusted
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15048166

Silivren Snow Drift - 95.90
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15048173

I set their stud fees low. All of my White & Biscuits except Ashcroft Cold Front have one biscuit parent and should be able to produce biscuit pups with either biscuit females or ones having at least 1 biscuit parent.

Hope this helps happy :)

Thanks for putting these boys up, nice to have more breeding options from different lines available.

Congrats on that nice boy you have bred. Love the head, gait, tnb combo he has. Would love to use him when he is old enough happy :)

I have only two boys at stud at the moment.

Lunatic Mystery Sun: W&B boy - 96.95(97.05 adjusted). 9.9 tnb, 9.8 gait, 10.6 coat, 9.1 size

He has produced some creams from white girls, and a couple of not bad biscuits (96.00 and up) from an old 94.50 biscuit bitch.

Taymry Baron of Iceridge
Current white boy - he is 45.40 Adjusted SOP:

www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=15135940

I have some fair creamy boys (60+ SOP) that will be going up when old enough and a 50+ white boy. They are still some time away.

Thank you so much, I have missed having access to your boys. Really need that diversity in the breed.
I will be using them in the next week or so as I have bitches coming in.

I will be adding some high males to the stud roster over the next 4/5 days as they get to 30 days. Including two high biscuits, and a high B&W.

Will list details when I put them up, although you are all welcome to come to my kennel and check them out happy :)

Recently I have had some dogs showing up with 10.0 Head traits. I couldn't figure this out because the highest head trait I own is a 9.8. I decided to have a look back into these dogs pedigrees to find out how this happened (not that I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth or anything). I discovered that they are all related to this female:

Noverias Work It
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?name=Noverias%20Workin%20It

So if you have any dogs from my line and see her show up in the pedigree try breeding to a 9.8 head trait mate and you should see these 10 head traits show up. I think I have a 9.8 head trait male up for stud (either from here or Silivren)

Ok now onto the averages for November. I took the top 10 dogs from November and figured out the averages. I think it would be encouraging to find out how we're improving as a breed.

Average SOP: 96.82
High SOP: 97.25 (Ch. Taymyr Candy Floss bred by Taymyr)
Head: 9.6
FQ: 9.5
HQ: 9.7
Gait: 9.9
TNB: 9.9
Coat: 10.7
Size: 9.0
Temp: 9.7
Feet: 9.2

I also wondered if there would be any interest in having our own breed magazine like the SD Chronicles except for Samoyeds specifically. It would feature the top dogs for each month and list any accomplishments such as grand champion medals, group wins, BIS (I know that's being a little optimistic), BISS wins, Sire and Dam awards. I've been working with GIMP so I could most likely do the graphics for it without too much hassle. I'd have to depend on you guys to message me with any major wins. I could put the breed averages on there every month as well. If you guys wanted to write up a little something about your dog that we could publish in it, that might also be fun.

What do you all think? It might possibly help bring new folks into the breed.

Sounds good, will have a think about what sort of things I can write --

Just to let you know that the SOP has just risen today. Not quite expecting this one at 97.40.

Proud to announce my new boy (came as a nice shock when I finally got my internet sorted and got into the kennel). And he will go up for stud duties in time happy :)

Taymyr Vagabond Clown

His daddy, despite his SS, is proving a useful sire.

Dang! Congrats! I think my highest one is 97.10 (adjusted SOP). I'm still trying to get all my traits going in the right direction. I have loads of pups with 10's in Gait and TNB, but their other traits are a work in progress lol

I have put a bunch of broodies up for sale, one W&B (low SS), and some white and cream girls, who have produced some pretty nice pups from their one litter. Will only be up for a couple of days as I am running out of room as usual.

Did you know?
